What to Expect

What to Expect When You Visit Our Church

Have you attended a social event where everybody in attendance knows somebody in the crowd? It can be an awkward experience, feeling that everybody else has some kind of history and you are the odd one out!

As a first time attendee, we want your experience at the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church to be enjoyable and relaxing. Keep in mind that on any given weekend, there are likely to be other visitors as well, so you are not alone!

You're Here!

When you arrive at the door of the church, there will be somebody to greet you and welcome you (we call them our "greeters"). They will hand you a program guide with useful information concerning the worship service, church announcements, mid-week services and much more.

What to Wear?

You will notice that everybody is dressed in a variety of styles, depending on their background. Some people wear very comfortable casual clothes, such as khakis and a button down shirt, others will be dressed in suit and tie.  The bottom line is that you are welcome to dress however you feel comfortable.

Sabbath School

Adults and children begin Sabbath morning with Sabbath School (or Bible Study) from 9:30-10:30am.  This is when the Bible will be explored in more detail. If you have kids, they will have the opportunity to attend a dynamic Bible-based program in their appropriate age group.  Greeters will assist you on where the classes are held. Every week the kids are involved in hands-on activities that will make the bible come to life, by learning about a bible hero.

Worship Service

Following Sabbath School we all come together into the main auditorium for the worship service which usually begins with music and a mission spotlight. The audience is invited to sing. If you don't know the songs, you can simply sit and enjoy the music. After this, we have a time for announcements, children's story, offering, and prayer.  Then the pastor will give a teaching that is relevant and purposeful. You will find that the messages are usually short, understandable, and provide hope. We believe that life is tough, and if we can give you a message of optimism to get through life - understanding God's truth in your life, we are headed in the right direction.

What's Next?

After the church service, feel free to hang out and meet some of the folks from our church. On the second Sabbath (Saturday) of every month, there is a fellowship meal. You are welcome to join us for delicious vegetarian meals and Christian fellowship.

We trust you will find your experience at the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church warm, inviting, and helpful. We want to help you grow in your spiritual journey. If there is anything we can do, let us know.

We would love to see you soon!
